GPNVG-18 Price Guide 2026: How Much Are Quad Nods?

Quick answer: a complete GPNVG-18 style quad with four working tubes costs from about $11,000 to over $50,000 in October 2026, depending on tube generation, FOM grade and who sells it. Our GPNVG-18 quad, complete with 4 tubes, from $10,999.95 ships complete with 4 Gen 2+ white phosphor tubes; each FOM step up costs more because it upgrades four tubes, not one. The military L3Harris GPNVG-18 listed at $47,999 at Quad Defense on 22 October 2026. Anything far below a complete quad is a dummy, a digital unit or an empty housing.

"How much are quad nods?" has a simple answer and a useful one. The simple answer is the price on the tag. The useful answer explains why the tag says what it says, what moves it up or down, and what you will spend on top of the goggle before your first night out. This guide gives you both, with every figure sourced and dated.

How much does a GPNVG-18 cost in 2026?

Here are the main kinds of complete four tube quads you can buy, with one listing each so the figures can be checked:

Below the complete quads sit three things that share the name but not the function: housing only kits with no tubes, digital quads that use cameras and screens, and dummy shells for airsoft and display. They are covered in our affordable GPNVG-18 price ladder, so this guide stays on complete goggles.

What drives the price of quad nods?

Four things set the price of any quad, roughly in this order:

  1. Four tubes. Image intensifier tubes are the most expensive part of any night vision device. A quad carries four, so every dollar that changes in tube price is multiplied by four.
  2. Tube generation and grade. Gen 3 tubes cost more than Gen 2+ tubes, and inside each generation a higher FOM costs more. Our Gen 2 vs Gen 3 guide explains the difference.
  3. The housing and alignment. A quad housing has to hold four tubes so that the four pictures join into one wide view. Each channel has to be lined up, which is skilled bench work.
  4. The sales chain. Most quads reach you through one or more dealers. Each layer adds its share. We sell direct.

That is why our quad sits where it does: Gen 2+ tubes instead of Gen 3, and no dealer layer, while keeping all four tubes. If you want the long version of why night vision costs what it does at all, read why night vision is expensive.

From above: one bridge carries two pods and four tubes. Lining up all four is part of what a quad costs.

How much does each FOM tier add on a quad?

FOM (figure of merit) is the single number most used to grade an image intensifier tube. Higher FOM means a cleaner picture in low light. On a quad, picking a higher tier upgrades all four tubes at once, which is why the steps are larger than on a monocular. Here are our tiers, with the upcharge split per tube so you can see what each step really buys:

Night Operators GPNVG-18 FOM tiers (product page, October 2026)
FOM tier Price Upcharge Upcharge per tube
1400-1550 $10,999.95 +$0 +$0
1600-1800 $12,599.95 +$1,600 +$400
1800-1950 $14,699.95 +$3,700 +$925
2000-2100 $15,999.95 +$5,000 +$1,250 (not available right now)

The $10,999.95 entry figure is our Founders Launch Price. Every tier is complete with four Gen 2+ white phosphor tubes, autogated, installed and tested at the factory.

Which tier is right? Most buyers start at 1400-1550. Go higher if you spend long nights under very dark skies with no moon. Our how to choose your FOM tier guide goes through it, and what FOM means explains the number itself.

What you actually see through it

What the extra money buys is mostly width. Here is the same hallway at night through a standard tube, a PRO tube and a GPNVG-18.

GPNVG-18 field of view comparison, illustration: a hallway at night through a 40 degree standard night vision tube
Illustration, not real footage. 40 degree standard tube (PVS-14 STD): one round view straight ahead. Both side doorways are outside the circle.
GPNVG-18 field of view comparison, illustration: the same hallway through a 50 degree PRO night vision tube
Illustration, not real footage. 50 degree PRO tube (PVS-14 PRO, PVS-31 PRO): a wider circle, but both side doorways are still outside it.
GPNVG-18 field of view comparison, illustration: the same hallway through a 104 degree panoramic quad night vision goggle
Illustration, not real footage. GPNVG-18, 104 degrees (plus or minus 2): four tubes side by side show both doorways, and the person in the right one, while you still look straight down the hall.

These pictures show field of view only. The blue tint is not the tube colour: our tubes are white phosphor and show the night in black and white.

Why does a quad cost so much more than a dual tube?

Two more tubes, and a harder housing. Our PVS-31 PRO dual tube binocular starts at $3,799.95 with two Gen 2+ tubes. Our quad starts at $10,999.95 with four. The difference, $7,200, buys two more tubes, a housing that angles them out to the sides, and the alignment work that turns four pictures into one.

Whether that difference is worth it depends on what you do at night. For most first time buyers it is not: two eye night vision is most of the benefit. For buyers who want side vision without turning their head, it can be. Our post on quad nods vs dual tube helps you decide.

What does a quad cost per tube?

Dividing the price by the number of tubes is a quick way to see where the money goes. At our entry tiers:

Price per tube at the entry tier (our product pages, October 2026)
Goggle Tubes Entry price Price per tube, roughly
PVS-31 PRO dual tube 2 $3,799.95 about $1,900
GPNVG-18 quad 4 $10,999.95 about $2,750

The quad costs more per tube, and that is not the tubes alone. A quad needs a wider housing with two angled outer channels, outer optics that point to the sides, a bridge that carries four tubes, an external battery pack and the bench time to line four pictures into one. Those costs do not exist on a binocular. Per tube math is a fair way to compare two quads with each other; it is not a fair way to compare a quad with a binocular, because the quad is doing a harder job.

The same math explains why housing only kits look so low: they carry the housing costs and none of the tube costs. See housing only quad kits explained.

What will you spend on top of the goggle?

The tag on the goggle is not the full cost of a working setup. Here is what to plan for:

What a working quad setup needs
Part In our GPNVG-18 box? Notes
The goggle with four tubes Yes Four Gen 2+ white phosphor tubes, installed and tested
Helmet mount Yes Black mount with a flip lever, fits the dovetail shoe
Battery pack and cable Yes External pack, four AA batteries, coiled cable
Hard case Yes Black, cut foam
Helmet with a front shroud No Needed to wear it; see our GEN II FAST SF helmet
Counterweight No Optional; the rear battery pack already helps balance
Batteries No Four AA; the maker rates run time at about 45 hours

Our helmet setup parts list covers each part in more detail, and helmet counterweights covers balance.

Why do GPNVG-18 price searches show such odd results?

Search "GPNVG-18 price" and you will see dealer pages for the military unit, game market pages, eBay listings and dummies side by side. The GPNVG-18 is a famous item in several video games, so many searches come from players, and many listings use the name for products that only look like one.

The fix is to compare like with like. Put complete quads next to complete quads. Before you compare any figure, find the line that says four tubes are included, and the tube generation and FOM. If you cannot find it, the price is for something else. Our quad nods buying guide shows how to tell the four kinds apart in seconds.

Do quad prices come down?

Tube goggles do not follow the price curve of electronics. Their cost is mostly tubes, and tube prices move slowly. What changes more is how a quad reaches you: direct or through a dealer, built to order or held in stock. We will not guess at future prices here, and we do not promise any price after launch. The price that counts is the one on the product page on the day you order. For the wider picture, see when night vision prices drop.

How do you get the most quad for the money?

  • Buy complete. A premium housing alone can list at $9,000 before any tubes go in, and four tubes plus fitting come on top. See housing only quad kits explained.
  • Start at the entry tier. Most buyers do well at 1400-1550 FOM. Each step up costs four times what it would on a monocular.
  • Pick your phosphor once. Ours is white phosphor in all four tubes. See white phosphor quad nods.
  • Use the helmet you have. If it has a front shroud and takes a dovetail mount, the mount in our box fits it.
  • Check the lead time. Ours is built to order and ships about 5 to 7 weeks from your order.

Our pick: for most quad buyers, the entry tier is the right place to start. The GPNVG-18 quad, complete with 4 tubes, from $10,999.95 ships with four Gen 2+ white phosphor tubes at 1400-1550 FOM, a 104 degree view (plus or minus 2), a helmet mount, a battery pack and a hard case.
